WINTER ICE BERRIES

It's still january!

This is my 3rd try at a blog here. I don't understand why i have so much trouble. i down loaded a picture and now don't know how to post it here. It's still January and I am bummed. Only 2 more days and then the dreaded Feb. arrives. It's hard to feel good about something when all you do is look out windows and see snow, ice, and mush.

JANUARY THE LONGEST MONTH

It seems January gets longer and longer every year. Which is odd because the years seem to go by faster and faster. This month seems endless. It is snowing again and has been since 9:30AM. It is now 4:30PM. We have over 2 inches on top of a sheet of ice. Our condo show removal people have been very lax this year. Even the trash men complained about our streets. They actually helped me get my can out Friday.

There is one more week in January and I will be glad to see it go. My birthday is Tues. just another day this year. Friday is grand boy's 8th birthday and he's leaning toward not having a
" family" party but one with friends only. 8 is a hard time for little boys wanting to grow up and yet wanting to stay the little boy for omas and poppies.

February has the least number of days and I hope it proves to be a short month. I am so wanting to get out side and see buds on trees and maybe some green in the grass. Hey, I would like to just see the sidewalk without snow or ice for a change.
January please end soon.

Edit :
My daughter's birtthday is Wed. When I was pregant with her I wanted to make sure she had her own day of birth. I had a few pains the night of my birthday so hoped they would hold off a few hours and they did. She has her own birthday even though it's just the next day. Love to her and to grand son this week.

Sunny Day

Today the sun is shining brightly outside my windows. Of course the windows are dirty but that just helps defuse the brightness of the sun. I love it though.

Poppie is baby sitting sick grand boy alone. This the first time he has done that for more than a few minutes for me to run to the store or some thing when we babysit the gang. I know they will be enjoying each others company even though one is sick and the other is not use to being alone with kids.

A day alone in my house is something I rarely have. It feels good.

HISTORY HAS BEEN MADE

Today just a few minutes ago a black man has become president of the United States of America. I truly wish this man and his family good health, good wishes and faith to endure all this is ahead of them. Please citizens of this country help him help our country out of the mess it's in and into an better way of life.

THIS IS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE AROUND HERE.
Today the sun is out but the temperature is -10 right now. I will probably not be going out at all. The spouse has turned into a hibernating bear and just travels from sleeping place to sleeping place. But even he is restless to do something.
I said I was going to paint during this artic freeze but so far I've only read a book and blogged and read blogs and visited Hawaii web cams. A girl can dream can't see.

Thoughts

I've read some things lately that have made me stop and think. Here are some of them.

Make peace with your past so it won't mess up the present.

Forgive everyone for everything.

Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

Life is to short to waste time hating people.

And finally:

Don't take yourself so seriously, no one else does.

Those that read this, I have left space between the lines for you to read too.

The New Year

It seems the new year brings promise for the future. Is it really so? I like to hope it is. I see so much excitement in children's faces when they are discovering new things and re-discovering things they have done before but not for a long time.

We took the grand kids to the museum Sat. and to the creek to throw rocks. For the two older ones it was a return after a long lapse of time for the 2 year old it was a wondrous new experience. This is what we want our legacy to be for our grand kids. Experiences that Oma and Poppie have given them to last a life time. I sure hope it works!
Memories are a part of who we are and who we become. I'm hoping positive memories will be the lasting impressions of us.
